Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali says schools in Male’ area would also be reopened on July first after more than two months of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Addressing the members of the media, Dr. Aishath said that on July 1st, school sessions for grades 9 to 12 would resume in all the schools in Male’ Area.
She said the Ministry was having a discussion with Maldives Police Services on ways to maintain physical distancing on the streets of Male’ Area when the schools re-open in July.
The Minister said for schools in Male’, students of the four upper grades will attend at one session and timings of these sessions would a standard time.
She also said schools located on congested streets like Chandhanee Magu would be operated under special guidance and three schools located on that street would hold sessions at different timing. Minister said discussions would be held between ministry officials and principals of the three schools and they themselves would decide the timings.
While only the upper four grades of students would attend school in Male’ Area starting next month, students from grade one and up would be going back to school in the Covid-19 free islands.
All the students and teachers as well as staff are required to wear facemasks when entering school grounds.
