Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali urges parents not to send students with Covid-19 symptoms to school once sessions resume in COVID free islands on the 1st of July.

Speaking to media, Minister said that in such islands all students studying in grades 1 and above would attend the sessions starting July and that it is vital that any students with Covid-19 like symptoms are kept from attending school. She also said that this would apply to teachers and school management staff as well.

Dr. Aishath said that as the schools prepare to reopen, each school has come up with a stand of practice SOP and each SOP would be unique to each school.

She added that all the schools now have installed systems that would allow students to wash their hands regularly.

Meanwhile, speaking at the same press conference Senior Policy Director at the Ministry Moosa Adam said that the schools have been separated into three categories.

He said that the first category would include schools that would hold one session with physical distancing practices in place.

He explained that the second category would include schools that would hold two sessions with physical distance protocols practiced among students while the third category would include that would hold sessions every other day.
