Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali says schools in islands with no reported case of global pandemic Covid-19 would re-open on the 1st of July.

Updating the press on the latest developments from the education sector, Dr. Aishath said that schools in islands without Covid-19 would open on July first and school sessions would resume for all students from Grade 1 and above.

The Minister said that students must wear masks when attending school and that the facemask is now part of the school uniform

She said that the parents must make sure that the students take their breakfast before going to school and the breakfast at school program spearheaded the Ministry would be temporarily halted for now.

The schools in the Maldives have been closed since of March this as the threat of Covid-19 had made authorities take all necessary action to deter the spread of the virus.

Only the capital Male’ City remained under lockdown in Male’ area but the government has granted more ease to the lockdown today.

The Education Ministry has been organizing teleclasses, google online classes as classes through Viber as well.
