Health Protection Agency HPA rescinds the restrictive measures taken against Covid-19 in the islands except Male’ City as the country enters the second phase of lockdown ease.
In a notice signed by the Director-General of Public Health and published in the government gazette, HPA said that all the restrictive measures taken to deter the spread of global pandemic Covid-19 in the islands except Male’ City (Male’, Villimale and Hulhumale’) have now been canceled.
The notice did not detail the reason for the cancelation of the measures.
It said that the measures implemented on the 30th of May 2020 under Article 34 of the Public Health Protection Act have been rescinded on the 15th of June 2020.
With this, the ban on non-essential travel between the islands have now been lifted while residents of the islands do not have to maintain social distancing practices.
This comes as the government prepares to implement the second phase of lockdown ease in Male’ Area. With the ease, residents of Male’ City would be allowed to go out for essential needs between 5 am to 10 pm without a permit and would also allow children and senior citizens to go out at specific times in the day.
All retail services would be allowed to resume operations from 9 am to 9 pm while cafés and restaurants would be allowed to take delivery and takeaway orders for now.
