Health authorities on Sunday confirmed discovery of 22 additional cases of Covid-19 and 94 recoveries.
According to the authorities, the newest batch of positive cases include 9 Maldivians, 9 Bangladeshis, one Indian, 2 Nepalese and a Thailand national.
With this development, the total number of positive cases discovered in Maldives so far have reached 2035 - inclusive of both active cases and recoveries.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Health reports a total of 710 Maldivians contracting the disease in the country so far.
The total recoveries as per the ministry have reached 1,311 which is a 64.42 percent recovery rate. Which is also considered among the highest recovery rates in the region.
Moreover, only 8 remain hospitalized due to complications rising from contracting the disease.
Although 8 remain hospitalized, none of the patients were reportedly in critical care.
As per statistics from the previous week the percentile of positive cases remained at 2.1 on average. Which is below 5 percent from the total tested individuals.
A total of 5,405 individuals were tested for Covid-19 during the previous week of which only 112 tested positive. Which include;
- 07 June: 875 samples, 2 positive cases
- 08 June: 839 samples, 13 positive cases
- 09 June: 934 samples, 26 positive cases
- 10 June: 772 samples, 20 positive cases
- 11 June: 657 samples, 14 positive cases
- 12 June: 564 samples, 27 positive cases
- 13 June: 764 samples, 10 positive cases
Out of total samples acquired in the previous week, 454 were taken randomly through active surveillance.
