The locals of Thaa atoll Kandoodhoo discovered human remains that had washed up to the island's beach.
Maldives Police Service confirmed they received the report from the island's council around 12:00hrs of Thursday noon.
Moreover, local authorities confirmed they have acquired samples from the remains for testing. Additionally it was reported officers of Maldives Police were active at the site where the remains were discovered.
While the island locals had discovered human remains, Maldives have reported an approximation of 150 disappearances across the country in the last 8 years.
Most of the disappearances are tied to incidents at the sea.
