Health authorities on Sunday have confirmed discovery of 2 new positive cases and 54 new recoveries in the country.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) made confirmation of the development, as the total number of cases reported in Maldives increase to 1903 while recoveries surge to 827.
Meanwhile, the country reports a total of 8 deaths related to the Covid-19 virus.
The youngest patient has been identified aged 11, case number MAV1464 and the oldest person to contract the disease was aged 92, case number MAV1547.
Greater Male' Region have been exercising total lockdown since 15 April, when the first positive case of the virus was discovered in Male' City.
The government of Maldives have since declared some leniencies and eases on the public amid lockdown, while it further noted the eases will expand within phases.
Moreover, it has been expected the country will reopen its borders for tourists in July 2020.
