Health Protection Agency HPA confirms that a Bangladeshi man has died of Covid-19 in the Maldives.
In a tweet, HPA said today at 09:25 am, a 38-year-old Bangladeshi national who was taken to IGHM in critical condition has passed away.
This is the 8th person to die of Covid-19 in the Maldives.
This includes four locals and four Bangladeshis.
The Maldivians who died of Covid-19 include 2 women and 2 men. HPA had confirmed that an 83-year-old woman, an 80-year-old man, an 88-year-old man, and an 89-year-old woman had died of Covid-19 in the Maldives.
Although the locals who have died of Covid-19 in the Maldives are elderly and above 80-years of age, most of the Bangladeshi nationals who have died are fairly young. This includes a 33-year-old man, a 54 year-old-man, a 45-year-old man, and the man who died today at the age of 38 years.
A total of 1883 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives with 1153 active cases of the illness in the country.
The total cases include 625 locals, 1018 Bangladeshis, and 190 Indians.
HPA has confirmed that 717 people have recovered from Covid-19 in the country.
