National Emergency Operations Center NEOC Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez says the government had repatriated 203 undocumented migrant workers in a bid to decongested Male’ Area where the Covid-19 virus is rampant.
Speaking to the media, Mabrook said these migrant workers were repatriated to Bangladesh in the last two days.
Mabrook explained that on Friday a flight to Bangladeshi capital Dhaka carried 198 undocumented migrant workers back to the country.
Mabrook also said that a chartered flight carrying 195 Bangladeshi nationals departed yesterday and that 5 individuals on the flight were undocumented migrants.
He clarified that the other 190 individuals were staff from various resorts in the country.
The government has been working closely with the Bangladeshi government to repatriate undocumented Bangladeshis as well as Bangladeshis who want to move back to their country.
