Health Minister Abdullah Ameen says the government would allow taxis and pickups to resume services as the authorities look to ease the lockdown implemented in the Male’ Area to fight against the Covid-19 global pandemic.
Speaking to local reporters earlier tonight, Minister said the government has decided to ease the lockdown measures in phases and the first phase would be implemented for two weeks starting tomorrow.
He said during the first phase, taxis and pickups would be allowed to resume services in the capital city.
The Minister said the first phase is designed to allow more people to go outside for essential needs, allow more economical activities, ease transport within Male’ and also provide medical services in a wider capacity.
Phase One of these measures would see more retail shops allowed to do business with the fish market in Male’ also set to re-open. Also, banks would be allowed to operate more frequently within these two weeks.
