HPA Epidemiologist Dr. Ibrahim Afzal says the number of deaths recorded this year are no higher than those recorded in the previous years.
Speaking to reporters via online, Dr. Afzal said that the fact that the number of deaths recorded this year have not surpassed those recorded in the years gone by means that there are no undiagnosed cases fatal cases of Covid-19.
He said if individuals die of Covid-19 without a confirmed diagnosis then this would show in the total number of deaths reported in the country.
The Maldives has recorded five Covid-19 related deaths in the country since March of this year.
This includes a married couple aged 83 and 88, an 80-year-old local man, a 33-year-old Bangladeshi national, and a 45-year-old Bangladeshi national.
A total of 1438 people have tested positive for the global pandemic in the country with 232 now declared free of the virus.
