The new medical facility/hospital developed for isolating Covid-19 patients have been handed over to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
The medical facility was developed in order to isolate officers of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) who tested positive for the virus. The officers all belonged to the Covid-Village cluster.
Covid-Village was spearheaded by MNDF with association from Fenaka Corporation, HDC, MWSC, STELCO, STO, MNACI and Amin Construction along with employees of Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure.
Positive patients from Covid-Village cluster included officers of MNDF along with employees of both Fenaka Corporation and RCC.
The Covid-Village was established to treat critical patients testing positive for the virus with the help of ICU facilities and ventilators.
Initially Covid-Village hospital was being developed to hold a 300 bed capacity, however the new establishment will hold 290 beds.
