Education Ministry says the secondary exams scheduled for Oct/Nov of this year have now been postponed to May/June of 2021.
In a statement, the Ministry also said that the Shahaadhaa Saanaviyya Exams for students of Al Madharasathul Arabiyathul Islamiyya would be canceled for this year. It said that these exams have also been rescheduled for May/June of next year.
The Ministry said with this change students studying in Grade 10 of secondary schools as well as students of Al Madharasathul Arabiyathul Islamiyya set to sit for the Shahaadhaa Saanaviyya exams this year would remain as students of these schools until they sit for their secondary exams in May/June of 2021.
Education Ministry said upon the recommendation of the social council, the Ministry has decided that the new academic year would begin mid-2021. It said that this change would alleviate school enrollment conflicts as well as challenges such as the unavailability of teachers and resources.
It also said that the Ministry was having discussions with the relevant authorities about making this change permanent.
The Ministry said that these discussions would impact the academic calendar of the year 2021 and that the ministry would announce these revisions as soon as it can.
