Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Wednesday, 13 May, confirmed 07 expatriate patients of Covid-19 had evaded from authority custody.
The health authority further confirmed three out of the seven still remained at large and are yet to be traced.
During Wednesday evening's press briefing at National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez confirmed 07 patients fell 'off grid' and were subsequently reported to Maldives Police Service.
Mabrook further attested four patients out of the lot had been sequestered in containment sights while the remaining three lived in various addresses under quarantine.
Maldives Police Service have so far been able to trace and apprehend four of the escapees.
Standard Operational Procedure under such scenarios dictate Health Protection Agency to disclose personal information of the escapees to Maldives Police.
Should the escapees remain at large, regulations cite their personal information will be made public under the power vested with the Director General of Public Health. This is done in order to broaden the search scope.
Recently five Maldivians had fled from Addu City's Herethera containment facility. However, authorities were able to trace the escapees and apprehended. Their isolation period was extended upon the breach.
Meanwhile, it has been a week since the expats fled their containment facilities.
