Health Protection Agency HPA says the newborn child of the Covid-19 patient, who gave birth yesterday via C-section, would also be tested for the virus.
Answering a query from ‘The Press’ on the matter, HPA said as per current protocols the newborn would also be tested for Covid-19 within 24 hours of delivery.
The Covid-19 patient was initially admitted to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital last week and was tested positive for Covid-19 after routine tests upon admission.
The patient was later moved to Tree Top Hospital in hulhumale, now the primary Covid-19 healthcare facility in the country.
The woman gave birth to a baby boy via C-section yesterday.
HPA has tested the medical team who treated the patient with several nurses now placed under isolation.
