Health authorities have confirmed 27 new patients who tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) confirmed as of 13:00hrs of 11 May, Monday, they have discovered 27 new cases with the total number of positive cases reported in Maldives rising to 862.
The patients include 9 locals and 18 expatriates and authorities added all of the expatriates were Bangladesh nationals.
The global pandemic that is the novel coronavirus, have been on a community outbrea since the discovery of first case in Male' City on 15 April.
Maldives government imposed a total lockdown on Greater Male' region on the same day, which has now been extended to 14 May.
As of now, it is difficult to ascertain if the government will be willing to relax lockdown measures as mounting positive cases have been surging on recent days.
