National Emergency Operation Center spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez says a total of 33 vulnerable homes where expatriates live in congested quarters have been placed under monitoring.

Updating the media on the latest developments in the fight against Covid-19 in the country, Mabrook said five new congested quarters housing expatriates have been found in Male’ Area.

Mabrook said these five makes it a total of 33 homes under monitoring.

He said test samples have been taken from 30 out of the 33 homes and the samples from the remaining three would be taken without delay.

Authorities have been taking pre-emptive actions to stop the spread of Covid-19 among migrant workers, identified as the most vulnerable community in the outbreak.

Health Protection Agency HPA had earlier declared that all migrant workers currently at risk of contracting the virus would be moved to NEOC designated quarantine facilities for their well-being.

A total of 835 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the country, which includes 279 locals and 556 foreigners.
