A technical team from Maldives Defense Force MNDF has built a fully functional emergency ventilator for the National Emergency Center.

MNDF said the signal of MNDF Service Corps created the prototype and that they started building the ventilator on April 18th.

The armed services also said the prototype was built in 14 days and that the officers reused electronic equipment to create the ventilator.

The officers demonstrated the fully functional emergency ventilator at a special ceremony held at MNDF headquarters Bandaara Koshi. Minister of Defense Maria Ahmed Didi, Chief of Defense Force Major General Abdullah Shamaal and Vice Chief of Defense Force Brigadier General Abduraheem Abdul Latheef attended the event.

MNDF said the prototype would now undergo tests and trials required for such medical equipment to be deemed as usable in the field.
