Maldives Red Crescent MRC opens a relief fund for migrant workers as many remain without work and on the verge of hunger.
Updating the local media on the latest undertakings of the organization, MRC President Ali Nashid said the fund was initiated to aid those most affected by the Covid-19 crisis.
Nashid said the fund titled ‘Covid-19 Migrant Relief Fund’ has received more than MRF 100,000 thus far. He explained that the key objective behind this fund is to further expand the migrant relief work during the crisis and to provide aid to those in need in a continuous manner.
MRC president said those who wish to donate to the fund can do so by accessing the organization’s website and the organization’s bank account details are available on the website.
MRC said it would only be accountable for the donations deposited to its accounts. It said that those who wish to make donations in supplies are also welcome.
The aid organization said that it had visited facilities that are currently housing migrant workers in Gulhee Falhu and Villivaru and inspected the accommodations.
