TreeTop Hospital in Hulhumale has been designated as the primary Covid-19 Treatment facility in the Maldives as of Sunday.
In a statement, Tree Top Hospital TTH said it has been working with the Government of Maldives including the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) to support the national COVID19 response.
The statement said that the TTH Directors offered to provide the services and facilities of TTH to Government as the primary COVID19 treatment facility, if and when the need arises.
It said on April 26th; TTH signed this Agreement with the Government of Maldives as represented by The National Disaster Management Authority, NDMA.
TTH said on 30th April NDMA notified TTH that effective Sunday, TTH will provide treatment only to COVID19 patients referred from IGMH, and so can no longer serve the general public.
The government has directed that TTH in-patients will be transferred to and provided treatment at IGMH.
TTH said it closed its only remaining open doors, the Emergency Room “ER”, last night.
The hospital said however, from Sunday TTH would continue to provide limited ER Clinic services for existing and new patients, elsewhere in Hulhumale’.
TTH said the Government has kindly provided TTH the exclusive use of the new Ophthalmology Building at Hulhumale’ Hospital, on a temporary basis, until TTH reopens its doors to the general public in about 90 days, after the last COVID19 patients have recovered and are discharged.
The hospital said TTH Consultants would provide outpatient consultations in this new ER Clinic, and by telemedicine.
