Two more individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 from Sh. Narudhoo taking the total number of cases in the island to seven.
Health Protection Agency had earlier reported that the captain of ‘Amaaz’ boat, a standard sea vessel from the island, had tested positive for Covid-19.
Sources have now confirmed to ‘The Press’ that six other people tested positive for the virus includes the captain’s wife, their three children and two crewmembers from the boat.
HPA is working to transport these individuals to an Isolation facility.
While 7 people who had contacted the captain have now tested positive, HPA reported that it had found 101 direct contacts of the captain.
The 49-year-old captain tested positive for Covid-19 last Saturday.
The boat left port from Male’ on 15th April before Male’ Area was placed under lockdown following its first community case of Covid-19. The boat with 91 people on board had stopped at several stops before reaching its destination. HPA had earlier requested those who travelled on the boat to notify authorities.
