Health Protection Agency HPA says 6 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives.

In a tweet, HPA said those 6 individuals include four Maldivians, one Bangladeshi and 1 pakistani national. HPA said the individuals were now being transferred to an isolation facility.

Today’s positive cases take the total number of positive cases reported in the country to 220. Most of these are expatriates living in the country.

Official data shows that 136 foreigners have tested positive for the virus in Maldives while 84 locals have also contracted the virus.

Government has been taking several measures to deter the spread of the virus including placing Male’ Area under lockdown for 2 weeks. Government has also banned non-essential travelling between islands within the atolls of the country.
