Maldives Parliament on Sunday have approved the MVR4.2 billion overdraw requested by Ministry of Finance.
The Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer, presented the request for an overdraw at the parliament to ensure continuity in public services and functioning of state institutes amid the viral pandemic outbreak - which has severely affected the country's economy.
The overdraw request was approved with the yes-vote of 60 parliamentarians during Sunday's virtual session.
Earlier, it was reported the ministry requested for the overdraw to be acquired through state's public bank accounts.
The decision was made in order to ensure the state institutions remained in operation amid the economic crisis; which has constrained the revenue streams of Maldives.
