Maldives Police Service on Friday, 24 April, confirmed effective immediate changes to the timings on shopping permitted hours for public in Greater Male' Region.
According to local law enforcement, the permissable hours between 17:00hrs and 19:00hrs for individuals to visit local shops have been omitted due to Islamic sacred month of Ramadan.
Ministry of Economic Development had earlier, announced local shops to operate between 09:00hrs and 00:00hrs everyday to provide necessary goods to the public.
The Greater Male' Region is currently observing a 14-day total lockdown period, with significant limitations to public movement outside residencies and tenements.
Authorities closely monitor the transport; with all modes of public transport currently shutdown, and only permitted persons and entities allowed to operate vessels or vehicles.
On 15 April, health authorities confirmed discovery of the first positive case of COVID-19 from Male' City. Following the confirmation, Maldives government imposed a lockdown on the entire region.
