Health Protection Agency HPA says the 14 Bangladeshi national who tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday were found after the agency conducted a survey as authorities ramped up proactive measures to deter the outbreak of the global pandemic in Maldives.
In a tweet, HPA said the agency had conducted a community survey and assessment of a single vulnerable house has been conducted and that 14 Bangladeshi nationals were tested positive for the virus from the house.
Authorities have warned before that in case of a community spread of the virus, the most vulnerable would be the expat workers community living in congested quarters especially in the capital Male’.
Before the community spread of the Covid-19 virus was discovered in Maldives, local authorities had joined forces to relocate some 200 expatriate workers from congested quarters in Male’ to more spacious lodgings in Hulhumale’.
