One of the leading pediatricians in the Country Dr. Ahmed Faisal says the Covid-19 virus will now head to the Atolls as Male’ Area entered its second week under lockdown to deter the spread of the global pandemic
In a tweet, Dr. Faisal said the virus will now move to the islands and unlike in Male’ the weight of controlling the pandemic will fall on the healthcare professionals in the atolls.
He said healthcare professionals in each island are the most familiar with the community and they should be trusted with the authority in order to overcome the illness.
All most all of the cases found in Maldives last week were concentrated in the capital Male’ with one individual tested positive in Haa Alifu Uligamu. But the person is also believed to have contracted the virus from Male’.
While 86 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Maldives, 66 people have contracted the virus in Male’ alone.
Authorities have said 4 children are among those tested positive for Covid-19. Also a pregnant woman and an 80-year-old have tested positive for Covid-19 with the elderly patient with underlying diseases now being treated in Dharumavantha Hospital 11th floor, DH11.
