National Carrier Maldivian’s cargo freighter has arrived from Lanka with 8 tons of goods.

The freighter arrived in Velaana International Airport sometime yesterday.

This is the airline’s third freighter from Lanka during the Covid-19 crisis.

Government has utilized Maldivian freighters to transport cargo from different countries amid the crisis. This includes 7 tons of cargo goods, mostly medical supplies, flown in from Dubai and 12 tons of good from Thailand.

Maldivian had said that businesses that want to import goods from India, Bangkok and Dubai could coordinate with them to fly in the goods from these countries.

The National Carrier has also chartered rescue flights to countries to bring home Maldivians stranded abroad during the Covid-19 crisis. These includes repatriation flights to Lanka, Malaysia and some cities of India.
