Health Protection Agency HPA officials have said that 4 children are among the confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Maldives.

Briefing the press on the latest updates of the crisis, HPA’s Dr. Ibrahim Afzal said case 82 who was tested positive yesterday was a child and that the child had no contacts.

Dr. Afzal did not reveal the gender or age of the child.

With this case, a total of 4 children have now tested positive for Covid-19 in Maldives.

The first child to test positive for Covid-19 in Maldives was the 2-year-old son of Case 21, the first ever positive case from Male’. Case 25 is the 15-year old daughter of cases 23 and 24. She is the second child to contract the virus. The third child to contract the virus is an 8-year-old girl or case 33.

Yesterday, an 80-year-old was among those tested for Covid-19.

The patient with underlying illnesses and history of pneumonia has been transferred to DH11 and is said to be in critical condition.
