Indhiraa Gandhi Memorial Hospital IGMH's Dr. Moosa Hussain says the 80-year-old patient who tested positive for Covid-19 earlier today is in critical condition.

HPA had earlier announced that the 80-year-old individual among those tested positive for Covid-19 would be moved to 11th floor of Dharumavantha Hospital, DH11 for further monitoring and observation.

Updating the media on patient’s condition, Dr. Moosa said the 80-year-old has been bedridden for two years after suffering a stroke.

Dr. Moosa explained that the patient had underlying diseases before the individual contracted Covid-19. He said this include diabetics, high cholesterol and hypertension and also suffers from bouts of Pneumonia from time to time.

Dr. Moosa said oxygen level of a healthy individual stands at 98 percent but the Covid-19 patient admitted in DH11 ICU has fallen to 94 percent.

A total of 83 people have now tested positive for Covid-19 in Maldives with 65 individuals still under treatment for the illness.
