Health Protection Agency HPA has urged those who visited Ihusaan Fihaaru Maafanu outlet on 15th, 16th and 17th April to come forward and notify authorities.

This comes after HPA confirmed that two foreigner who works at Ihusaan Fihaara had tested positive for Covid-19 earlier today.

Addressing the media, HPA’s Medical Officer Dr. Fathimath Nazla Rafeeq said contact tracing of these cases has revealed that these two foreigners worked in making deliveries and in the Maafanu outlet of Ihusaanu fihaara.

Dr. Nazla said most of cases identified through contact tracing are cases that showed symptoms two to three days before Male’ area was placed under lockdown. She explained that the contact tracing for these cases revealed that their contacts have significantly dropped owing to the implementation of the lockdown in Male’ City.

Dr. Nazla highlighted that for those who work in larger companies, a higher number of contacts have been identified. She said much hope rides on the successful lockdown of Male’ City. She explained that if contact between individuals is minimized and with the diagnosis of current positive cases, spread of the infection through these cases could be managed.
