Health Protection Agency HPA says it has suspended vaccination in Male’ area amidst the Covid-19 lockdown implemented in the capital city.

In a statement HPA said, with the community spread of the Covid-19 virus now confirmed in Male’, it has decide to suspend vaccination and that it would resume when the 14-day lockdown is lifted.

HPA said it was safer to stay home rather than going to vaccination centers, as officials believe that the highly contagious virus is widespread in the capital city.

HPA added that if the lockdown were extended, it would announce further instructions regarding vaccinations.

A total of 67 individuals have now tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives. This includes 47 individuals tested positive from Male’ Area within the last 6 days.
