A senior magistrate at Baa Atoll Dharavandhoo Magistrate Court has been advised by Judicial Service Commission (JSC) for apparent negligence in conduct.

JSC released a statement on Monday, stating complaints have been lodged against the court's senior magistrate for taking leave against leave policy.

The senior magistrate, Ahmed Latheef have been advised by the judicial authority adding it will be taking disciplinary action against him.

JSC notes it will be taking action against the magistrate over his breach to the disciplinary conduct of magistrates and judges, adding as a penal measure Latheef must attend the commission ordered training program.

The senior magistrate was found in breach of article 151 of Maldives Constitution, articles 1(a), 32(a), 33(b) and 65 of Judges Act.

In addition to this, the magistrate was found in breach of article 42(a) of Employment Act and provisions 2.2, 3.2 and 6.5 of Disciplinary Standard of Judges.

JSC notes the senior magistrate was penalized under the commission's act, provision number 32(a)(1).
