Official spokesperson for Covid-19 updates in Maldives Mohamed Mabrouk Azeez says a foreign national tested for Covid-19 from Grand Park Kodhipparu is being treated in Treetop hospital in Hulhumale’.
Speaking to the media, Mabrouk said the foreigner was tested after showing Covid-19 like symptoms and was transferred to Treetop hospital after the individual’s condition worsened.
Mabrouk said the resort was currently under monitoring.
He also said the individual’s first Covid-19 sample tested negative.
But he said that individuals identified as direct contacts of the suspected case would be kept under isolation until the person tests negative for the virus a second time. He said this decision was taken with recommendation of the TAG team doctors.
Mabrouk said Island Safari and Seven Coral Maafushi Guest house has been lifted from monitoring. He clarified that only Grand Park Kodhipparu Resort, Joali Maldives, Bodufushi resort and Maldiviana Safari remained under monitoring.
A total of 20 people have tested positive for Covid-19 here in the Maldives including five Maldivians. Fourteen people have since recovered from the disease including a Maldivian patient.
