Ministry of Finance and Treasury says all state offices must issue Ramadan allowances to its employees before the 20th of this month.
In a statement, the Ministry said an amount of MVR 3000 should be given to each Muslim employee as the Ramadan allowance for the year.
The Ministry said employees on no pay leave should be exempted from receiving the allowance while employees who quit their jobs before one third of Ramadan is complete should return the allowance after deducting for the days under employment.
Finance Ministry also said for those employees currently carrying out more than one state appointed duty should receive the allowance from his/her original employer.
Finance Ministry had previously decided that over-time pay for the month of March would be included in the salary for April.
