President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih heaps praise on healthcare professionals on the occasion of World Health Day as the county’s fight against global pandemic Covid-19 intensify.

In a tweet, President Solih said this year’s world health day have coincided with the most severe global crisis of our generation. He said amid the Covid-19 crisis the bravery and dedication of our doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals are on full display.

President thanked them for their service and said that he prayed that the world is soon saved from the Covid-19 crisis.

The virus has infected 1.3 million people worldwide with 74,779 people dead because of this highly contagious illness. Several countries across the globe have gone under lockdown to further deter this global pandemic and world economy is forecasted to take a major hit as a result of these measures.

In Maldives, 19 people have tested positive for Covid-19 including four Maldivians who came back from the UK.
