Ministry of Economic Development will resume its office for specific services amid the state closure on government institutions in light of the viral outbreak.

An announcement from the ministry on Saturday, 04 April, read the authority will resume to render services in business registration while government continues its closure period.

According to the ministry, services related to business registration and its affiliated services will resume from the institution counters between 09:00hrs and 13:00hrs everyday except Fridays.

Under the services rendered by the ministry, customers will be able to seek help or assistance in;

  • Business name approval and registration
  • Sole Proprietorship/Partnership registration
  • Issuance of corporate profile sheet
  • Categorization of small and medium enterprises
  • Registration of business logo and seal
  • Registration of trademark and business activity

The ministry's decision was welcomed by local business owners and sole proprietors.

Ministry of Economic Development, similar to all other state institutions will remain closed otherwise from general conduct until the government declares otherwise.

Earlier, Maldives government declared temporary closure to ensure public safety and curb the possible spread of the viral pandemic.

So far, the island nation has reported a total of 19 positive cases while 13 have recovered and 4 remain in treatment. Two more, Italian nationals, tested positive for the virus only after reaching their home country.
