Emirates on Sunday announced the airline will be temporarily suspending most of their passenger flights by Wednesday, 25 March 2020.

The airline had made the official state on their Facebook Page as well as on their official handles.

In their statement, Emirates noted the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic "resulted in significantly reduced global travel demand" which was further accelerated by border closures to prevent the spread of the disease.

However, the airline had later updated that they will continue their passenger and cargo flights to specific destinations upon requests made from governments and customers for said countries.

Emirates Airlines is expected to continue their cargo and passenger flights to these destinations, until further notice and as long as their borders remain open;

  • United Kingdom
  • Switzerland
  • Hong Kong
  • Thailand
  • Malaysia
  • Philippines
  • Japan
  • Singapore
  • Australia
  • South Africa
  • South Korea
  • United States of America, and
  • Canda

Furthermore, Emirates added the airline will continue its SkyCargo operations to "maintain vital international air cargo links for economices and communities."

The airline is among the latest in the major league of carriers to announce their temporary suspension on most of its operations; while it is expected the airline will cease its operations to Maldives as well.
