IGM hospital has started critical care training for doctors as a vital measure in the fight against the global pandemic Covid19.
The hospital initiated the training, as the number of doctors trained in critical care is low.
The training is aimed for doctors of all fields and specialties.
Speaking on the matter, Head of the respiratory department at IGM Hospital Dr. Moosa Hussain said there are only a number of doctors trained in critical care in Maldives and doctors administering critical care should be trained specially with knowledge on how to manage ventilators.
Dr. Hussain said the hospital wants to give critical care training to all practicing doctors in Maldives.
The two-day training sessions will include lectures and practical work on the subject.
While seven stations have been established to educate the doctors on all the medical equipment required for critical caregiving.
All the doctors will be given practical training on how to use these equipment at these stations.
Thirteen people have so far been tested positive for Covid-19 here in the Maldives with three people now declared cured of this virus.
One of the cured patients includes a 70 year old treated in the ICU following complications.
