The Maldives Police Service on Thursday, 06 February 2020, has confirmed they have arrested three individuals under court order suspected in relation to the stabbing at Hulhumale' against foreigners.

However, the local law enforcement had not provided any other details regarding the arrests.

The attacks perpetrated by suspected extremists occurred on the evening of 04 February 2020 between 19:00hrs and 20:00hrs.

In a press statement local law enforcement authority claimed they were "continuously monitoring the status of the victims of this heinous attack."

Maldives Police further confirmed the condition of all three victims appear to be stable.

Meanwhile, Police added they were "establishing the validity of a video circulating on social media claiming to be related" to the attack.

On Tuesday evening, it was reported three foreigners were attacked at the satellite town of Hulhumale'. The attacks were carried by unknown assailants on bikes, with their guises covered beneath helmets.

The victims include two Chinese and one Australian out of which one of the Chinese was reported to be a tourist and the other two were foreign employees in Maldives.
