The Maldives Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has suspended a senior ranking magistrate from Dhaalu atoll over a case of forged signature.
The commission on Tuesday claimed the magistrate at Dhaalu atoll Kudahuvadhoo, Abdul-Razzaq Mohamed has been suspended regarding suspicion raised over forging signature on court document presented regarding a currently ongoing case.
The case is currently being probed by Maldives Police Service for a definitive answer.
In the statement, JSC notes that the magistrate in question will be temporarily suspended over a disciplinary issue and thus will be barred from all rights and responsibilities of a member of the judiciary.
The magistrate's issue comes while JSC had been hard-pressing on local magistrates, judges and advocates over several disciplinary issues which saw many in the local legal field investigated.
