The Maldives government initiated health insurance scheme, crossed its budgeted limit.
In the most recent Weekly Fiscal Development from Ministry of Finance, it was revealed the state has spent MVR1,084.7 million exceeding the budgeted MVR1,000.0 million.
Meanwhile the cumulative state expenditure has reached MVR24,272.5 million while capital expenditure has reached MVR6,481.5 million in annual terms.
Under recurrent expenditure, MVR9,032.2 million has been spent on the salaries, wages and pensions of public sector employees.
In addition, MVR8,193.4 million was spent in annual terms on administrative and operational expenses of the government.
Additionally, state subsidies have reached MVR1,169.5 million closing the gap between spent and budgeted amount for 2019.
As for capital expenditure, the major portion was injected on Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP) - which has reached MVR3,463.9 million.
Moreover, another MVR1,782.8 million under capital expenditure has been spent on development projects and investment outlays.
