The Parliament has abruptly postponed today's scheduled house session to next Monday.
The Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Ahmed Nazim, who chaired yesterday's session, announced at the end that there would be a session today.
Under the Parliament's Standing Order, the secretariate must share the session's agenda with the MPs 6 hours before the session. Usually, the session's agenda is also published on the Parliament's website 12 hours before the session.
However, the agenda for today's session was not posted up to 3 in the morning.
When asked, the Parliament media official said that the session has been postponed till next Monday. The official did not give a reason for the decision.
The Speaker of the Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdullah had proposed to extend this term of the Parliament till the 15th of this month and the parliament has since approved his proposal.
Current work in the House of Representatives includes committee consideration of an amendment to the ban on Israeli passports, a bill to amend the Narcotic Drugs Act and work on the Office of the Attorney General’s Bill.
