The National Social Protection Agency NSPA has submitted a case to the Anti-Corruption Commission ACC asking it to investigate the allegations against the Agency.
The CEO of NSPA Heena Waleed filed the case against the agency.
NSP requests a thorough, independent investigation into the matter as soon as possible. Information is being spread to raise concerns and doubts among the public about such an institution, which is related to the social security of the people and the integrity of its employees.
The Agency denied the allegations being spread against it via media reports.
It said the transaction for a building to run the agency was done within the framework of the rules and regulations between the Ministry of Finance and the agency.
The statement by NSPA followed allegations that NSPA acquired the office space through corrupt means with documents showing that it had rented space from Maldives Media House Private Limited.
The tender board documents showed that two floors from M. Seeraage were leased to NSPA for 5 years for MVR 34.8 million. However, questions are being raised since the contract was awarded to Maldives Media House which was founded last year and the property in question is owned by a private owner.
