Maldives Food and Drug Authority MFDA cleared the cough syrup Cofsy after banning its use in August.
On the 19th of August, MFDA said that the syrup had been found to contain pieces of dirt or another type of contamination. It further said that it was conducting investigations to guarantee the medicine's safety.
The MFDA said in an announcement today that samples of Cofsy syrup available in the market have been taken and tested.
It also said that the results of these samples showed no problems with the drug,
The MFDA has granted permission to import, sell, and use the drug as before.
The generic name for the medicine is Salbutamol Sulphate Bp + Ambroxol Hydrochloride Bp + Guiphenesin Bp + Menthol BP.
The cough syrup is being manufactured by an Indian company based in the Indian city of Chennai named Mmc Health Care Ltd.
