National Disaster Management Authority NDMA says it provided humanitarian aid to more than 50 people after a fire broke out in a house on Sosun Magu in Male'.
The fire in Haa Dhoohimiri was reported around 2:47 in the afternoon yesterday.
Maldives National Defence Force MNDF said the fire was fully extinguished around 4:30 in the evening. Two people were treated in the hospital for smoke inhalation including a 48-year-old local woman and a 30-year-old migrant woman.
NDMA said today that 57 individuals were provided humanitarian aid due to the fire. It noted that this includes 37 locals and 20 foreigners. NDMA did not specify what kind of humanitarian aid was provided to these individuals.
The building had a cafe on the ground floor and an accommodation block for foreigners on the first floor. MNDF said that the fire had damaged building beyond use.
