President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu says If a person dresses in a way that does not contradict Islam, there should be no discrimination in employment and performance because of the clothing he/she wears.

His post on X came after reports emerged that a woman who applied for a job at Dhaalu Hulhudhelee Magistrate Court was disqualified because she wore the Niqab ( a veil that some Muslim women wear that covers their face).

The email sent by the court disqualifying the candidate has gone viral. It states that Section 129 of the Judicial Staff Regulations 2011 states that employees must dress in such a way as to identify themselves during working hours and that the Department of Judicial Administration has advised the Court not to go forward with the recruitment process if the candidate wears a niqab.

This has ignited public anger and the President said in his post that all the rules and regulations that have been made and are still in force should be changed to end such discrimination.

The President further said that authorities have been asked to do so.

President Muizzu urged all to resolve to make our society a society that promotes justice and fairness in every sense.
