The Democrats have met with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu looking to cement its relationship with the government.
The meeting was held yesterday at the President's Office. The Chairperson of Democrats Hassan Latheef joined party Vice President Mohamed Shifaz in the meeting.
The meeting mainly discussed the changes to be brought to the decentralization system and the government's efforts to reform the financial system in the country.
The Democrats have also discussed with the President how they can cooperate with the government. The party also assured the President of its support for constitutional reform and economic issues.
This is the second time President Muizzu held a one-on-one meeting with the Democrats as he met with local party leaders last December. The parties he met include the democrats, MDA, MNP and JP. Notably the President did not meet with the main opposition party MDP.
