President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has condemned the failed assassination attempt against former US President Donald Trump.

Shots rang out as the Republican Presidential candidate was speaking at the event in Pennsylvania, sparking panic in the crowd as Secret Service agents told Trump to get down.

Trump later confirmed that he was shot in the ear as video of the incident showed Trump emerge with a bloody face.

The FBI has identified the gunman as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks - he was shot and killed by the Secret Service. One spectator was killed at the rally and two others were critically injured.

President expressed his concern via X today and said that violence has no place in politics, and I strongly condemn all forms of violence everywhere.

The President went on to say that the country's thoughts and best wishes were with the former President, his family and others injured in the attack.
