Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed denies misusing his position in the government to secure high-ranking positions for his son and brother.
Shaheem was responding to allegations that his son Abdullah Mahil Shaheem has been appointed third secretary of the Maldivian High Commission in Malaysia and his brother Ahmed Shifaz has been appointed deputy minister of tourism.
In a post on X, Minister Shaheem said he would not illegally seek the opportunity for his child or family member to serve in an educated field.
The Minister also said that he would not misuse state property, position, and money.
Many on social media platforms are accusing the Minister of using his connections to secure a job for his son and his brother.
