Police have arrested two individuals for carrying a knife and a sword on the streets of Male'.
The individuals include a 21-year-old and a 33-year-old.
The two men were arrested on charges of possession of sharp weapons in a public place.
The Criminal Court remanded both individuals for 15 days in Police custody.
Court documents stated that the knife and sword were found in the possession of the 33-year-old suspect. It also stated that a surgical knife was found on the ground where he was standing when he was stopped and searched by the Police.
The documents revealed that the suspect was not able to offer a reason why he had the weapons in his possession.
It further noted that the 21-year-old denied any involvement in the crime and that he was accompanying the other individual just to light his path.
Court documents added that both men had previous arrest records.
